MAT Exam: What Is It?
For admission to MBA/PGDM programmes, the All India Management Association (AIMA) administers the Management Aptitude Test, also known as the MAT. Multiple times a year, the exam is given in four phases: February, May, September, and December. Candidates who meet the requirements may be admitted to more than 800 business schools that accept the MAT.
The MAT exam is offered in three different formats: paper-based (PBT), computer-based (CBT), and remotely proctored (IBT). According to their preferences, candidates can select any mode in which to take the exam. All three exam formats share the same fees, exam format, and syllabus; however, the dates for admit card download and exams vary.
Exam registration for the December portion of the MAT 2022 is still open. In a single session, the MAT PBT and CBT will be administered by AIMA in December. Between November and December, there will be four sessions for the MAT IBTs. The cost to register for MAT 2022 is INR 1,850 for all options. At the time of MAT registration, the money must be paid.

MAT Eligibility Criteria

- Candidates should have completed graduation in any discipline or equivalent from a recognised university
- Final year graduation students are also eligible to apply for MAT
- Candidates who have completed a professional degree such as CA, CS or ICWA are also eligible to apply for the MAT exam

MAT Exam Preparation Tips 2022
Candidates need at least six months to prepare for MAT exam. For a fruitful preparation, they should focus on improving their problem-solving skills with the help of previous years' MAT question papers and online mock test, etc. The MAT preparation strategy should be well planned and in accordance with the MAT exam pattern and MAT syllabus. Below are some tips to prepare for MAT exam:
- Read best books for MAT exam preparation, magazines, newspapers and online blogs on a daily basis to improve reading skills, understanding skills as well as for keeping track of current affairs of national and international level
- Practice MAT question papers, sample papers and online mock tests to improve speed and accuracy as well as to develop familiarity with the test pattern
- Regularly analyse your preparation level to know your strengths and weakness in each section of the MAT syllabus
- Target topics carrying more weightage in each section of MAT to score well in the exam
- Time management is the key to attempt maximum questions in MAT so, don’t waste time on tricky or tough questions
MAT Registration 2022
The MAT application process is same for all the three exam modes - PBT, CBT and IBT. The application form filling is an online process. Candidates can fill the MAT application form 2022 of preferred exam phase on AIMA MAT exam website by paying exam fees of INR 1,850. Check below the process to apply for MAT:

- Enter name, date of birth, email ID, mobile phone number and a password
- Fill the MAT exam application form with relevant information
- Select preferred test mode (CBT, PBT, IBT), test cities and five B-Schools
- Upload a recent passport size photo and scanned signature
- Make fee payment via debit/credit card, net banking or e-wallet to complete the process
MAT Exam Day Guidelines
- For MAT IBT mode, candidates should arrange a laptop/desktop and check internet connection at least one hour before the exam timing.
- For MAT IBT mode, candidates should wear formal clothes and keep the admit card and other documents ready for remote verification process.
- MAT PBT and CBT are conducted from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Candidates have to report to the exam centre by 8:30 AM.
- Candidates should carry a blue or black ball point pen if they are taking the exam in PBT mode.
- Phone, calculator, electronic watch or any such item is prohibited at the exam centre hence, candidates must ensure they don't carry any such item on exam day.
- Digital or photocopy of the MAT admit card will not be considered a valid ID proof so carry the original copy of your admit card.
